Week 2 of a First Time NEW Car Buyer

Hey guys! Rebecca here again and we are at Week 2! Let me start off by saying that I have a confession to make:  being a first time new car buyer has led to a few challenges concerning keeping the obsession at a normal level.  I have become quite obsessed with my dear Sheila and I’m not quite sure if it’s at a normal level. This week’s pinnacle of the obsession focused on maintaining the new car smell.  Yes, I know researchers have said that the new car smell is toxic, but my dear Sheila didn’t make the  list of the “worst”  offenders (see here) so I think I am in the clear. My desperate attempts at keeping the new car smell for as long as possible may or may not have upset a few of my passengers, which could have something to do with my list of rules:

New Car Rules

*This is more of a rule for myself as I have a compulsion to buy as many Yankee Candle car air fresheners as humanly possible.

The obsession continues with SYNC.  I have enjoyed getting to know this young lady voice very well.  She asks me to say a command whenever I press that lovely button and I don’t mind telling her what to do on several occasions throughout my trip.  I definitely recommend going to syncmyride.com as soon as you can!  I wish I would have done it sooner.  All you need is your VIN # and an email address and you are set.  The SYNC Services available allow you to personalize your favorites including: weather, news, horoscopes, and sports teams.  Speaking of sports teams…check out the new Raven’s flags for Sheila.

Flags are only used when going to and from Ravens games, so don’t judge me (HAHA)

Another feature I have come to love is adding saved points (you can add up to 25 points) so that you can get traffic and directions through voice commands.  If after 3 attempts SYNC can’t help you with what you are looking for you can utilize Operator’s Assist to find what you are looking for.  You get 20 free Operator’s Assist sessions free each year for up to 3 years, so you should use them or you will lose them.  You can also add more sessions rather inexpensively if you start to rely on the service:

10 Operator’s Assist Sessions/ $19.99

50 Operator’s Assist Sessions/ $44.99

100 Operator’s Assist Sessions/ $79.99

Once your 3 years are up you can then renew for $60.00 per year and get another 20 free Operator’s Assist sessions.

One last thing from this week my MPGs are going up! Wooohooo!! My average was 31.2 MPG so, I have just exceeded the combined reported MPGs of 31 and I couldn’t be happier!

I hope you guys are enjoying some of the insights of a First Time New Car Buyer.  Let me know if you have any questions you would like me to answer for you next week in the comments.
